Top 7 Blogging Softwares of 2011

Want to Begin Blogging Immediately ?

The words “blog” and “blogging” have become so overused and belabored that a lot of people misunderstand what a blog actually is anymore.

A blog is a kind of website – (for the purposes of these reviews) one that is maintained by an individual. It’s not an article. It’s not a static HTML page (though these can be incorporated into a blog). It’s a log of web pages: a web log = a blog. Anyone can have one for any reason they want: personal, professional, job hunting, family chronicle, marketing, book clubs, celebrity gossip, tech news, online diary, fashion do’s, fashion don’ts, dream journal, music, art, recipes, travel – anything you want.

Below are the top 7 blogging services which you can choose from and start BLOGGING:

Rank -1 Wordpress :

This hosted version contains much of the same features and functionality without the added difficulty of being your own web developer and host.

The design tools offered at the free level include access to many templates (blog designs), sidebar customization using widgets and some of the themes even let you upload your own photo to customize your banner

Tracking and publishing tools are mostly integrated into the program – the stats are certainly integrated and offer a real-time look at all the activity and traffic happening to your blog.
The hosting has several different paid levels that increase your blog’s functionality. Upgrades include custom CSS, unlimited private users, 5 GB, 10 GB and 15 GB space upgrades, no ads and video embedding capability.

Rank -2 Typepad :

TypePad by Six Apart is a beautifully thorough proprietary blog software program with hosting included or you can pay for more storage and bandwidth. It costs fewer than $5 per month for a basic membership. TypePad’s advanced tools and features include stats, word banning, text file uploads, static pages.

One of the only faults, the only missing feature we can say about TypePad is that the program uses trackbacks (as opposed to pingbacks, which are less prone to spam. Otherwise, just about every check mark on the matrix is covered by this great program.

Rank -3 SquareSpace :

Squarespace is award winning blog service that is actually hosted "on the cloud". It's an easy way to set up a blog, or even a full website that can all be managed remotely. Squarespace has one of the finest interfaces for designing, customizing and personalizing your blog without knowing programming language or finding third party templates.

Rank -4 LiveJournal :

LiveJournal is a vital online community (masquerading as blog software) that was started in 1999 by Brad Fitzpatrick as a way to keep his high school friends up to date. Now on their home page LiveJournal boasts 20.7 million journals and communities created since then. LJ was purchased by Six Apart, Ltd. but is now owned by Russian developers SUP.

LiveJournal is free to join, but the features, storage and image upload capabilities are limited unless you upgrade to the Paid account. This program is ideal for writers and artists with enough technical know-how to figure out how things work and how to make LJ’s features work for them. There are plenty of ways someone with a little CSS and HTML can have a great time here.

Aside from comments, there are no statistics on traffic and referrers though. LiveJournal was designed less for commercial use and more for personal use and community building.

Rank -5 Blogger :

Blogger is the great, widely used blog software developed independently but now owned by the good people at Google. The program is free, easy to use, well organized and intuitive.

Having a blog through Google makes it really easy to monetize – use AdSense to place ads and possibly make some money. Blogger also provides plenty of challenge for more advanced users who want to customize their blog – build their own templates.

Mobile blogging capabilities are fully utilized here – BlogThis! is a downloadable client. You can also email your posts to publish on your blog or send them from your mobile phone.

Rank -6 Xanga :

Xanga’s classic account offers a variety of blog software templates and you can easily change the appearance further with a little HTML knowledge. They offer simple templates as well as advanced options, which we always like to see. A set up wizard guides you through the sign up and creation of your blog.

The free account is great to get you started but the features, storage and image options (which aren't many to begin with) are fairly limited unless you pay for a subscription.

Xanga also has a fairly large and active community - the home page shows featured articles as well as many specialty communities you can join or read. None of the traditional XML-based feed options (RSS and Atom) are integrated in Xanga.

Rank -7 Open Salon :

Open Salon by Salon is an emerging community powered by capable blog software and writers who are looking for an audience. It's a simple, plain service focused on great content rather than design and features.

The cover page welcomes you in to the community with featured articles, tips (such as how you can build a blogging audience), most viewed articles and an activity feed.

The blogging interface is clean and uncluttered.

Free PDF Editors, for editing PDF documents.

Most commonly used application for reading PDF files is the Adobe Reader, but it cannot be used to edit PDF files the way Word files can be. When it comes to free PDF editing tools they are hard to come by, and are mainly limited to free trials of non-free applications. There are a few options you can try, however, which may or may not serve you well depending on your needs.

Free Full PDF Editors

If you need full PDF editing capabilities as opposed to annotation the choice of completely free tools is rather limited, but there are a few options you can try which might very well work for you.

  • LibreOffice Draw

LibreOffice Draw, which is a part of a Free Open Source LibreOffice suite (a fork of OpenOffice.org), has a native full PDF editing capability. It supports simply opening a PDF file and editing both the text and graphics, and it exports hybrid PDF files which can be edited again natively in LibreOffice, but should otherwise act as normal PDF files.

It is not perfect though, and some PDF files don’t display correctly with images sometimes being out of place and text being displayed incorrectly when the font used is not installed on the system and available to LibreOffice. Regardless of these quirks this might be the best free and full PDF editing option.
  • Inkscape

Inkscape, another Open Source tool, is primarily a vector graphics editor, but it can import PDF documents that can then be edited in full as if they were vector graphics, and then exported back into a PDF. The limitation is that only one page at a time can be edited, and since everything is converted into vector graphics there is still no true text editing. Text elements are converted into vector text elements, but editing them is buggy. What appears to work best is replacing existing text elements with new ones instead of editing them directly.

To import a PDF file into Inkscape simply open it in Inkscape and you will be greeted by a PDF Import Settings window which allows you to select which page to import for editing, what precision should be used for gradient meshes, whether to replace PDF fonts with closest-named installed fonts and whether to embed images.

It might be possible to use a combination of LibreOffice Draw and Inkscape to get the desired results. One could be used for finer text editing while another could be used for graphics editing. Depending on your needs and the PDF document you have this might save you from having to pay for a commercial PDF editor.

Free PDF Annotation Tools
If you simply want to add notes, highlight text or add text over the PDF file you’re in luck, as there is a number of decent options.
  • Adobe Reader

Clicking on the Comment button on the top right corner opens the ability to add notes or highlight text which can then be saved to the original (or a separate) PDF document. If this is all you need, and already have the Adobe Reader, you’re good to go.
  • Nitro Reader

If you need more editing options in addition to adding notes and highlighting text Nitro Reader allows you to add text anywhere in the PDF document, fill out forms and add signatures, from its nice tabbed ribbon interface. You can also extract text and images from the PDF file, and create PDF files from other documents (like Office documents, images and so on).
  • PDFEscape

PDFEscape is a web based tool which offers even more features. While it still doesn’t provide true editing of the original content it allows you to white out certain areas, add text and images, but also add links, form fields, lines, arrows, rectangles, circles and checkmarks. As such it can be a very useful tool for some advanced annotations and filling out forms.
  • Preview (Mac)

Mac users also have a benefit of a built in Preview application which simultaneously serves as an image viewer and a PDF reader which comes with a number of annotation features from highlighting, text writing (in different fonts and colors), adding circles, rectangles and arrows, and so on.

Mac users can also try Skim as a somewhat more powerful alternative to Preview.

काश………..

क्या वाकई दो अलग दुनिया के लोग बिना मिले भी एक दुसरे से जुड़े हो सकते है??? बिना कहे भी कुछ कह सकते है !!!!!!!!! Is It possible ???इतना जुडाव possible कैसे हो सकता है ??practically ??? D big Question is -ऐसा क्यों लगता है जैसे कुछ खीच रहा है अपनी ओर ??? Well dis could probably drag you towards the dead end….इंसान कितना मजबूर होता है ना !!!

क्यू…. काश…………

Gr8…

It feels great when people compliment me for my dressing sense… more when they don’t call my dress but my collection (Well i love words so they do matter)& it happens many times, It happens many times females compliment me saying you have a totally different personality & a different way of dressing which is really good they also ask from where do u shop. (और पालू की यही मुश्किल हमेशा यही कहती है देखो कहा है तुम्हे इन्ही सब वजहों से नज़र लगती है :(  )
Well many females compliment, many don’t, as females generally don’t like complimenting but love getting compliments. Well I love both giving and getting compliments; I Love wearing cotton stuff & i do lot of hard work to even maintain them, But above all it feels great that whatever suit & cotton stuff i wear people praise them, what makes me much more happy is that I am not promoting any international brand usually, in fact not promoting any so called tag :) as i usually prefer Indian brands until & unless it comes to jeans & all, but the pure Indian Stuff done by Indian People Infact Indian Weavers this handloom stuff is my weakness… it feels, may be because of my dress other people can get inspired to wear the same stuff that can eventually promote Indian Weavers labor & can provide them much than what they are getting today, in fact i have noticed this dressing sense of mine has made many females who usually wear western stuff switch to dress up in Indian Style…Yesterday again my one colleague said to me i wanna get a suit stitched, from where i should get it done i am inspired by you to wear a suit…I laughed as always… felt चलो इसी बहाने ह़ी सही atleast i am promoting our indian culture… well i dont believe that its nessecary to wear indian dresses to be an indian but yes if we can do its good, after all that promotes our culture and at least it should not be overlooked, but yes even every one should wear with whatever is comfortable for them & they can carry as far as i am concern i can carry whatever i want or love to wear… but the story is not the very same with every one… any ways i remember while i was a intern at Samaprk sometime while wearing suits i do wear बिंदी as i love wearing (there is a big spiritual believe in it as well, according to the Indian  tradition)… I remember Anjali she was of the age of my Elder Bua & even she resembles her a bit …Once i was wearing a bindi she asked me about that & even i questioned back why dont you wear bindi ??? the very next day she came wearing a suit with a big bindi & said to me देखो आज तुम्हारे लिए लगा ली बिंदी …i complimented her you look too good in bindi …लगाया करो आप..N yes she did that after that incident she started wearing bindi most of the टाइम…i actually felt good …infact till date i have seen females started using bindi who where earlier not fond of it…& it feels great to promote Indianess…India Attire & Indian Culture at large … as I have observed so much change at so many places… i now actually believe in the theory… की खुद को बदलोगे तो दुनिया खुद बदलेगी …Well i haven’t changed according to the world coz what i love …I Just Love and as I believe …Believe In whatever you believe In & See the change is there to be like You… Well I really appreciate My Culture… & Even Look the people who started in believing it… for what so ever reason but its a positive change and I Admire It & can say with a smile I am Loving it … :) -
